My great-grandfather's antique store in Holliston, Massachusetts

Our Story

While I was growing up, I was always surrounded by family heirlooms and antiques. It seemed that each piece had its own special story which elevated it to become something beyond just a simple object. Instead, it became more like a window that was looking into the past and helping me to connect with family members who I’d never had the chance to meet.

An interest in antiques goes back multiple generations on both sides of my family. In particular, my great-grandfather, Fred, had a life-long love for antiques. After decades of running a market in Holliston, he decided to retire and open an antique shop which he then operated for a number of years.

In the early 1960s, my grandparents George Francis and Beatrice, along with Fred, sold their home in Holliston and moved to Cape Cod. They purchased a historic home in Sagamore and named it Fairwinds. This is taken from the nautical term “fair winds” which refers to favorable winds – winds that are blowing the direction the ship is traveling. The house has been known by this name since then and it seemed fitting to use it in the name of our business.

As I am working to curate and research all of the different items for our shop, I am constantly thinking back to the history of my family and the connections from the past to now. Both my grandfather and great-grandfather passed away before I was born.

It is my hope that as you browse our different collections that you will find something that speaks to you. Maybe there’s something that reminds you of a childhood memory or a loved one, or perhaps you will find something unique that perfectly reflects your personality.

Thank you for stopping in!
