This is a beautiful peachblow glass pear from the late 1800s. It was an ornament that could be hung by the delicate glass stem. The stem would have originally been much longer and curved. Unfortunately, the stem on this one has been broken, which is fairly typical for these! It is still a great display piece however.

The Libbey Glass Company, originally known as the New England Glass Company or later the New England Glassworks, produced these pears as souvenirs for the 1893 World's Fair which was held in Chicago. The company actually built a full working factory at the fair that patrons could tour to see the glassmaking process.

The pear measures 4.5" tall and about 3" wide. It is in great condition other than the broken stem.
